Set Up Your API Key

FuzzyBoard uses OpenRouter to connect to AI models. Follow these steps to get your API key — it takes about two minutes.

OpenRouter is a gateway to AI models — it lets FuzzyBoard connect to the best language models available.

You can sign up with Google, GitHub, or a regular email address. Pick whichever is fastest for you.

Free to create. No credit card required.

Credits work like prepaid phone credit — you add funds and they get used as you make assessments.

New accounts often come with a small free allowance. There are also free models available, so you can try FuzzyBoard without spending anything.

A typical assessment costs just a few cents, depending on the model you choose.

Free Models Available

Use the openrouter/auto router or look for models with the :free suffix to use free model variants.

An API key is like a password that lets FuzzyBoard access your OpenRouter account. Here's how to create one:

  1. 1Go to the API Keys page
  2. 2Click "Create Key"
  3. 3Give it a name (e.g. "FuzzyBoard")
  4. 4Copy the key — it starts with sk-or-...

Save your key somewhere safe — you won't see it again after leaving the page.

Head back to the home page and paste your API key into the input field. It will be validated automatically.

Your key is stored in browser memory only. It is never sent to our servers, never persisted.

You can also change the AI model in the "Advanced Options" section if you prefer a specific model.
